I often think that I am lucky to have been born to a family that is loud, funny, and incredibly caring. I have been told many times by different people that I am funny and if it weren't for the people I grew up around who knows what I would have turned out to be like. How important are the people in your life while you grow up and develope your own identity? I feel that your influences change as you get older but at the most critical point in our lives, being an infant to the age of five, your parents are the most influential people we will ever come across. Though our parents help mold our character, most people often seek to expand their uniqueness.
Growing up I was always attached to my mom. As time progressed I began listening to my own music, my choice of clothing greatly differed from what she would choose for me to wear, and I just wanted to do my own thing. On the flip side, I always valued my moms unique style in arts, food, and personality. My mom introduced me a wide variety of foods including sushi for the first time when I was six years old, the ballet when I was ten years old, and giving back to the community ever since I can remember. I am so grateful that I was raised by a woman who gave to local charities and food banks as often as possible which in doing so helped me recognize that there is more to life than the physical things.
Now, I continue to make decisions that I gained from my mom. I am frugal with my money when I need to be because she taught me that money doesn't come from nowhere. I always try to make people laugh because she was so funny that I always aspired to be someone that could make an entire room laugh because of my antics. Finally I am hard working because I as raised by a single mother of four and was given so much more in my young life because my mom was a hard worker. I am fortunate to have so many great qualities because of the people, especially my mom, who were in my life from the beginning.
